Silverstone Classic 2019 Event Preview

Silverstone Classic 2019

Silverstone Classic 2019 is one of the world’s biggest classic motor racing festivals held at the famous Silverstone motor circuit. This year the event takes place on the 26th, 27th & 28th of July.

There will be over 20 races throughout the weekend featuring cars from the 1920’s onwards. With over 1,000 race entrants from historic Formula One, Sports Cars, GT, Touring Cars, there’s set to be plenty of on-track action.

Silverstone Classic 2019 will be an anniversary year for Bently, Mini and the Ford Capri.

Bentley’s 100th birthday will be a momentous occasion. Racing as in period, a record turn out of more than 30 iconic Bentleys are expected. Packed full of pre-war cars, this race will also feature marques such as Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Bugatti, Fraser Nash, Lagonda and MG all dating back to the 1920s and 1930s. These 3.5 and 4.5 litre engined open cockpit cars will be a great spectacle hurtling down the track with speeds in excess of 100mph.

Mini celebrates it’s 60th anniversary in 2019. There will be a dedicated 20 minute sprint race on the Saturday and Sunday, competing for the Mini Celebration Trophy. Due to the minis design and handling it became one of the most iconic and influential cars in the 60’s. It went on to win the Monte Carlo Rally on three occasions and won the hearts of many in the process.

The Ford Capri will not miss out either! Celebrating their 50th anniversary by contesting the Gordon Spice Trophy in honour of the most successful Capri racer of all time. The race will feature a full grid of touring cars from 1966-1990, including Alfa Romeo GTV6’s, BMW CSL’s, a Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Capri’s, a Jaguar TWR XJS, a Renault 5 GT Turbo, a Rover Vitesse, and a VW Golf GTi (among others).

The Historic Sports Car Club will provide the grids for six of the races at this weekend’s Silverstone Classic as the Club’s Historic Formula 2, Classic Formula 3 and Thundersports series feature. We’re looking forward to seeing members of the HSCC wearing their club badge.

In addition to the on-track action, there will be plenty of off-track events so plenty to keep the whole family entertained. There is an area aptly called the village green which will have giant garden games, crazy golf and traditional funfair rides including a big wheel, helta skelter and a period correct ferris wheel.

We will also be displaying our Mitsubishi Evo VI outside the ‘Pie & Piston’ as part of the Pistonheads icon display. This will be located behind the National Paddock, where you’ll be able to grab a full English breakfast, hot food all day and a cold beverage including a selection of draught and bottled beers served by BrewDog.
